About Us

The Council on Aging Grey Bruce is a non-profit organization founded in 2014. We are a forum of community leaders and older adults who promote age friendly communities, positive aging and inclusion. Our aim is to highlight the specific needs of older adults within our rural and urban communities.

We focus on empowering and engaging older adults through shared resources, research and information workshops.  We also advocate. We are interested in working with similar associations that advocate on broader provincial or federal issues regarding the care and engagement of older adults in Ontario.

Our History

The Council on Aging Grey Bruce (COAGB) was established as a voice for older adults living in the areas of Bruce and Grey counties. It was formed in 2014 through a successful application to the Ministry of Seniors Affairs. The COAGB became a member of the Ontario Councils of Aging (OACA) holding its first general meeting in March 2015.

In 2025, the COAGB received a community grant from Entente Education Canada (formerly the Retired Teachers of Ontario). Beginning in the fall of 2025, the council promoted a series of seminars to empower and inform older adults. These events have been held across Grey and Bruce counties in Meaford, Lion’s Head and Kincardine. See our events page for 2026 Spring Seminars to be held in Owen Sound, Dundalk, Lion’s Head and Hanover.
